Overview
To modernize its integration landscape, the customer embarked on migrating over 350 integrations from Boomi to Workato. The initiative aimed to overcome limitations of the legacy setup, including sluggish performance from long-running database operations, difficulty processing large files (such as ZIP archives and attachments), and constrained scalability. The new Workato-based architecture was designed to boost responsiveness, simplify maintenance, and enable seamless execution of high-volume, business-critical integrations.
Challenge
The customer needed to migrate 350+ integrations from Boomi to Workato while enhancing performance, scalability, and real-time responsiveness. The legacy setup struggled with long-running database calls, large data volumes, and limited file handling (such as ZIP files and attachments), which caused slow processes, higher operational effort, and made high-volume integrations difficult to run efficiently.
Solution
To address these challenges, we developed an event-driven architecture and enhanced workflows. Alongside the Workato migration, custom Python extensions were added where native support was missing. This hybrid approach retained Workato’s automation capabilities while adding flexibility to meet the customer’s complex requirements.
Benefits
- Millions of records processed without failure
- Python scripts filled functionality gaps in Workato
- Event-driven design minimized delays and downtime
- Scalable architecture built to support future growth
